Role Overview: Parole Board Vice-Chairperson
The Department of Correctional Services (DCS) is seeking applications to serve as Vice-Chairperson of the Correctional Supervision and Parole Board. This is a 5-year term role, remunerated under Category D, sub-category D1 of National Treasury’s statutory board rates. Key vacant centres include Bizzah Makhate (Ref: FSNC 2026/07/13), Grootvlei (Ref: FSNC 2026/07/14), Kimberley (Ref: FSNC 2026/07/15), Bethal (Ref: LMN 2026/07/03), Polokwane, Rooigrond, and Rustenburg.
Requirements & Qualifications
Candidates must meet the following standards:
- A recognized NQF level 7 qualification in Criminal Justice, Social Sciences, or a related field.
- Minimum of three (3) years of supervisory or community leadership experience.
- Active involvement in community-based structures and a good standing in the community.
- A clear interest in the South African Criminal Justice system and commitment to corruption-free administration.
Core Duties & Responsibilities
The Vice-Chairperson will chair board meetings and sign official releases in the absence of the Chairperson. You will participate in analyzing offender cases, reviewing reports from professionals, and conducting hearings to determine risk levels. Additionally, you will assist in drafting reasoned case summaries and decisions and represent the Parole Board publicly.
