The Department of Correctional Services (DCS) is inviting applications for two (2) Caterer positions within the Free State and Northern Cape Region. This role combines culinary expertise with correctional security and offender training.

Minimum Requirements
- Education: Matric / Grade 12 OR a relevant NQF Level 6 qualification in Food/Chef Services.
- Mandatory Training: Successful completion of the Correctional Science Learnership / Basic Training.
- Experience: * With Matric only: 10 years relevant experience at entry-level production (CB 1).
- With NQF Level 6: No previous experience is required.
- Technical: Valid driver’s license and computer literacy.

- Security Skills: Firearm skills and proficiency in relevant security technology.
- Operational: In-depth understanding of safety and security within a correctional environment.
- Soft Skills: Integrity, honesty, assertiveness, and diplomacy.
- Legal Knowledge: Understanding of the Correctional Services Act (Act 111 of 1998).
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Meal Service: Prepare and serve meals to inmates according to prescribed standards.
- Hygiene & Maintenance: Maintain the cleanliness of the kitchen and all catering equipment while upholding strict hygienic standards.
- Training: Provide catering and food preparation training to offenders.
- Management: oversee human resources, finances, and assets within the kitchen unit.
