Minimum Requirements

Key Competencies

  • Security Skills: Firearm skills and proficiency in relevant security technology.
  • Operational: In-depth understanding of safety and security within a correctional environment.
  • Soft Skills: Integrity, honesty, assertiveness, and diplomacy.
  • Legal Knowledge: Understanding of the Correctional Services Act (Act 111 of 1998).

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Meal Service: Prepare and serve meals to inmates according to prescribed standards.
  • Hygiene & Maintenance: Maintain the cleanliness of the kitchen and all catering equipment while upholding strict hygienic standards.
  • Training: Provide catering and food preparation training to offenders.
  • Management: oversee human resources, finances, and assets within the kitchen unit.
